Gincave (the "site") is operated as a private editorial publication. This page explains what personal data the site collects, why, and what your rights are. It is written to comply with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR)
What we collect
The site collects three categories of personal data:
- Analytics data. When you visit the site, basic information about your visit (page viewed, approximate location at country level, device type, referrer) is collected through a privacy-respecting analytics tool. This data is aggregated and not tied to a personal identifier.
- Newsletter subscribers. If you subscribe to the newsletter, the site stores your email address and the date of subscription. This is used solely to send the newsletter.
- Contact form submissions. If you write through the contact form, your name, email, and message are stored so the enquiry can be answered. They are deleted within twelve months unless an ongoing conversation requires otherwise.
What we don't collect
Gincave does not run advertising trackers, fingerprinting scripts, or third-party cookies for advertising purposes. We do not sell or share data with data brokers.
Cookies
The site uses essential cookies only (e.g. for the cookie consent banner itself, if present). It does not use marketing cookies. When you click through to merchant partners (Master of Malt, Amazon, etc.), those merchants set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
Affiliate tracking
When you click an affiliate link on Gincave, the merchant you arrive at may set tracking cookies in your browser. This is what allows them to attribute any subsequent purchase to Gincave's referral. The merchants in question (Awin, Amazon Associates, etc.) operate under their own privacy policies, which you can find on their sites.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Have inaccurate data corrected
- Have your data deleted ("right to be forgotten")
- Object to processing
- Receive your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the contact form.
Changes
This policy may be updated from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage for at least 30 days.
